CORDELIA, DAUGHTER OF THE SEA
Cordelia, Daughter Of The Sea is a 9-minute short drama, exploring the profound love a father has for his one and only offspring.
Structured in a monologue format, given by the father of the bride, the film sets to acknowledge the idea that:
All we can really ever do is (as simple as) To Love And Be Loved.
And acknowledge the idea that death is the only thing that is and will ever be certain in life. That in our lives there will be love and heart ache and loss, and everything will feel big and scary and funny and confusing and small and wonderful, all at the same time.
And all of these feelings are ok.
Cordelia Daughter of the Sea, was named one of the Top 30 Best Australian Films of 2024 by The Curb Magazine. It was a contender for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Awards (AACTA) Best Short Film category, and was nominated for 5 South Australian Screen Awards. It premiered at the BAFTA and Academy Qualifying Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, where it was selected as one of the top ten Best of Australian Shorts, which subsequently toured to regional cinemas. It was nominated for Best Achievement in a Screenplay at St Kilda Film Festival, and was screened in selected Australian cinemas as part of the Adelaide Film Festival’s Shorts In Cinema program. It was shortlisted for Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival and HollyShorts, and will screen next at CineFest Oz in Western Australia.
